Our Commitment
At City Taxis Sunraysia, the safety of our passengers, drivers, employees, and the wider community is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and productive workplace by preventing the misuse of alcohol and drugs while at work or performing company-related duties.
Purpose of This Policy
- Reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, or damage caused by alcohol or drug use
- Clearly define acceptable standards of behaviour in the workplace
- Ensure drivers and staff are fit for duty at all times
- Promote responsible conduct during and outside work hours where safety may be affected
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, subcontractors, and representatives of City Taxis Sunraysia while:
- On duty or on call
- Operating a vehicle for company purposes
- At any work-related location or activity
Alcohol & Drug Use
- Employees must not consume alcohol or illegal drugs while on duty or operating company vehicles
- Employees must not report for work under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including medication that may impair driving ability
- Responsible use of prescribed medication is permitted where it does not affect safety or work performance
Fitness for Work
All employees are expected to be fit for work and capable of performing their duties safely. Any employee suspected of being unfit due to alcohol or drug use may be required to cease work immediately.
Testing & Management Action
Where required by law or where safety concerns arise, appropriate action may be taken, including:
- Removal from duty
- Investigation of incidents
- Referral for support or disciplinary action
Employee Responsibilities
- Comply with this policy at all times
- Ensure personal behaviour does not compromise safety
- Notify management if medication or other factors may impair safe performance of duties

This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing alignment with Australian workplace health, safety, and transport regulations.
